Mr. Flynn Cratty, Director of College Ministry

Flynn was born and raised near Los Angeles, California.  He was converted during his sophomore year of high school after listening to a sermon that made him aware of his need for forgiveness of sins.  In 2000, he moved to North Carolina to attend Duke University.  North Carolina reminded him a lot of California, apart from the culture, food, and funny accents.  He still isn’t used to the humidity.  Flynn visited First Baptist on his second Sunday in Durham and ended up staying for four years.  During his senior year, he was baptized at the church and admitted to membership.  In 2004, Flynn graduated from Duke with a degree in history, English, and philosophy, and moved to Washington, D.C. to intern at Capitol Hill Baptist Church.  After finishing the internship at CHBC, he began working for a Member of Congress as a Legislative Assistant responsible for domestic policy issues.  In 2006, Flynn quit his job on Capitol Hill and moved to Louisville, KY to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He has been on staff as the Director of College Ministry at First Baptist Durham since June of 2008.  His desire is to see students from all over the Triangle exalting Christ as Lord over every aspect of their lives.  He likes good theology, pickup soccer, and Indian food.  He has a lovely wife named Julie, a very new daughter named Lara, and a snaggletoothed dog named Pilgrim.
