We believe that one of God’s primary means for growing up healthy Christians is through engagement with a local body of believers. We call this covenant membership. Covenant church membership is a wonderful privilege and a weighty responsibility.

To communicate fully the privilege and responsibility of membership at FBC we ask prospective new members to go through a four step membership process.

We're so excited you're interested in learning more about who we are and joining the family!

Membership Process

I. Attend a Prospective New Member Weekend

Our prospective membership class is offered on various weekends (Friday evening and Saturday morning).

The class is broken up into 4 main categories:

  • Essentials of our Faith
  • Distinctives of Our Faith & Why Join a Church
  • Distinctives of Our Church
  • Membership Responsibilities

II. Participate in a Membership Interview with an Elder

This is an opportunity for one of the elders or staff to get to know you better, hear about your conversion, baptism and walk with Christ, as well as to answer any questions you may have about FBC Durham.

III. Sign the Church Covenant

New Member candidates will be asked to sign our church covenant and introduce themselves to the church body during a New Member Sunday.

IV. Receive Congregational Affirmation

New Member candidates will be presented to the congregation at the Members’ Meeting, immediately following New Member Sunday, at which time the congregation will be asked to officially vote to approve the candidates as members of FBC.
